Lunch Service offers drop-in volunteer experiences during the lunch hour, hosted at convenient NYC locations. No lengthy planning, no minimum spot commitments, and no major time or budget investment.
As a collective, companies share the cost of participation, making it an affordable, high-impact way to offer volunteering as a meaningful employee benefit.
How it works
- On the 2nd Thursday of every month, RBU hosts a meaningful volunteer activity addressing a local issue and supporting our high-impact nonprofit partners.
- Reserve a number of volunteer slots for a specific date or purchase credits that can be redeemed throughout the year, like signing up for your pilates class.
- Participation is $75/volunteer or $65/credit (minimum purchase of 25 credits).

Good to know
- Volunteering isn’t free! Nonprofits invest time and resources to plan and host meaningful events. In NYC, the average cost of corporate volunteering is $120 per person, with private events often requiring minimums of $2,500–$5,000. These costs can put volunteering out of reach for smaller companies with limited budgets.
- As a nonprofit, we know how valuable time and resources are so we design every volunteer event to create real, measurable impact, without adding extra strain on on the charities we support.
- Each activity is thoughtfully co-designed with our nonprofit partners to address a specific gap or challenge they’ve identified. By filling that gap, volunteers help these organizations do what they do best: deliver on their mission more effectively.
